Events

The purpose of this page on our website is to show you the events we run as a group and the various reasons behind them.

We aren't just a collection of names on a website - we are real people with real stories.

Our events aim to raise the awareness of Sands, what we do and who we support. Also to raise important funds to keep the group going, support the national organisation and develop our services.

In the past we have taken part in the Flora Light Womens Challenge, Pottery evenings, Teddy bears donated to the neonatal and special care baby unit at the Princess Anne, Babyloss Awareness Day and a Service of Remembering and Thanksgiving which we hope will become an annual event.

Princess Anne Hospital Bereavement Team will be holding a memorial service for all babies who have died, before, during and after birth. This is the 2nd year for this service.

Refreshments and an opportunity to talk afterwards.

They are also looking for poems for the service so if anyone has anything they want put forward please email to southampton.sands@ntlworld.com

Sands Family Picnic

To acknowledge June as Sands awareness month we have decided to hold
a picnic. It is going to be on Saturday 28th June 2008 and we will
be meeting at 11am. We are holding it at Royal Victoria Country Park
and will be meeting at the top of the park on the grassy area by the
old hospital building.

Its going to be a family picnic so feel free to bring your children
and other family members. The more the merrier. We will not be
providing food so you need to bring your own picnic. However we will
be providing entertainment in the form of games.

We apologise for the short notice but we will definitely be there to
meet people from 11am onwards. Hopefully some of you will be able to
attend. We held a picnic a couple of years ago and it was really
lovely.

Obviously this is dependent on the weather so if it is raining on the
day please check the website for any last minute cancellations.
